Midsummer might have come and gone on the calendar, but at MenWith, we don’t let dates get in the way of a great tradition. So, we created our own version – a belated Midsummer Drive along Sweden’s rugged west coast, with Volvo’s updated XC60 Plug-in Hybrid as our companion.
With a few days carved out for fresh seafood, cold swims, slow mornings, and open roads, this was less about where we were going – and more about how we got there.

In summer 2025, the XC60 made history: it officially became the best-selling Volvo of all time, surpassing the beloved 240. Over 2.7 million units sold globally – and the story continues.
The latest version, which launches soon, refines everything that made it a global favorite: cleaner Scandinavian lines, upgraded infotainment, improved comfort, and sharper hybrid performance. We had a first taste – and it left an impression.
What stood out most? The extremely responsive powertrain. Whether accelerating onto the highway or navigating winding backroads, the XC60 feels alert, confident, and smooth – in a way that surprised even us. Combined with its perfect midsize proportions and sculpted design, this is a car that immediately makes sense. It looks the part, drives even better, and it’s easy to see why this model is Volvo’s global bestseller.
Summer Driving at Its Finest
We started in Gothenburg and worked our way north through the coastline, basing ourselves at the beautifully minimal Strana Hotell, where time slows down and design speaks softly. In the XC60, we slipped seamlessly between small fishing villages and wide coastal stretches – quiet, smooth, and sharp.
The hybrid drivetrain offered both instant response and serene electric cruising. No noise, no fuss – just good energy and a cabin that feels like a second home.
And a Nod to the EX30 Cross Country
While this trip was all about the XC60, we haven’t forgotten the bold little sibling. Earlier this year, we took the EX30 Cross Country deep into the Arctic and came back impressed. It’s small, confident, and full of character – perfect for the more adventurous driver.
